British Orienteering intends to employ, with support from Sport England, a Development Manager to take over from Hilary Palmer when she retires at the end of March 2010.
The closing date for applications is 12th March 2010. Selection interviews will be held in the following few weeks.
The Development Manager will be responsible for:
- Providing leadership to the development programme and those working in it; particularly to innovate and lead change in developing and implementing the vision and strategy for orienteering in the United Kingdom.
- Line Managing the staff working in the development programme.
- Planning, programming, co-ordinating, monitoring and evaluating all development programmes.
- Working with the development team to identify and disseminate examples of good practice that have the potential to increase participation and membership.
- Liaising with other staff and volunteers to support the development of volunteers and volunteering in orienteering
- Providing day to day management of the development programme and the associated projects being delivered by clubs and partners.
- Preparing and agreeing Budgets with the Chief Executive and Board in line with the Whole Sport Plan (with support from the Accounts Manager).
- Operating of the development programme within an agreed budget.
- Liaising with Sport England, Youth Sport Trust and other organisations as required.
- Attending the Development Committee and being an active member of the Committee.
- Advising the Board on development issues and contributing to strategic planning.
All work to be dovetailed to the requirements of the Development programme
The job will be based at the National Office in Matlock; in exceptional circumstances other bases may be considered however attendance at the National Office for a significant part of each week will be required
