Orienteering World Cup Event 4 - 2012
The men ran 7.0 km with 290m climb, whilst the women ran 6.3 km with 220m climb through partly pre-alpine forest that had steep slopes, open pastures and deep, but run-able gullys. The last few controls were in the village of Appenzell. After her race Claire was asked whether her race went to plan. She commented that this was her first experience of Swiss orienteering and that she enjoyed the typical continental terrain that suited her style of orienteering. She did make a few mistakes but was mainly pleased with her run and WOC preparation. Cat said that because the area was steep and physical, route choice was really important. She commented that whilst the race was great fun, she was not so sure how relevant the terrain was for WOC2012, but that she is really enjoying being in Switzerland and racing well. Our Head Coach, Toni Louhisola stated that he was pleased with the many strong performances from all of the WOC team, and that it gives him great confidence and confirms the preparations for is going well.
