Levy Changes for 2013

At the 2012 AGM a resolution was passed to change the British Orienteering Levy Scheme. The resolution stated, “That from 1st January 2013, a single rate of levy will be applied to all participants at all events except those covered by a British Orienteering Partnership Agreement. The principle that three juniors (M/W20 and younger) will count as one senior for levy purposes remains, but full-time students will no longer be treated as juniors for levy purposes unless they are juniors.” The single rate of levy for 2013 will be £1 per participant.

When completing the levy return the following applies:

  • Event volunteers that receive a free run must be counted in the member's field and will be subject to the levy payment. We propose that the club charges entry fees that cover the cost of the event officials levy payments if the club wishes to adopt a policy whereby event officials are given ‘free’ runs.
  • "String and Other" participants includes additional members of family groups that just buy one map. e.g. A family of four buys one map between them. One member of the family should be counted in the member or non-member field and the other three family members should be counted as "String and Other" participants.
