Parking information:Hutton Mulgrave and Skelder Woods are about 6 km west of Whitby. The event will be signposted from the Guisborough to Whitby road (A171) at Skelder Hill, 6 km west of Whitby, and Assembly will be on Skelder Road at grid reference NZ 849094. The postcode is YO21 1SE. Parking is at the side of a quiet public road. Please follow instructions of parking stewards, especially with regard to keeping the road clear and safe. NOTE FOR AFTER THE EVENT: The exit westwards on to A171 is quite difficult. Please take great care or leave via Dunsley and Newholm.
Dog rules:Well behaved dogs are welcome in the parking area, but must be kept on leads and must not be allowed into the competition area

Details

Description:Terrain: Technically challenging but runnable terrain under mixed woodland of wide variety. We have mature beech, pine and larch. Open areas with heather and scrub. No crags but may be damp in places. Controls will mainly be in Skelder Wood. This was only visited by the longer courses at the Acorn Regional Event in March 2015. Cagoules and whistles may be compulsory. Map: 1:10,000 scale. Printed on waterproof paper. Facilities: Toilet near Registration. First Aid at Registration. Please supply your own drinks.********************Safety: Please remember that you must download, even if you do not complete your course. LONE DRIVERS: Please complete the "Lone Drivers" form and leave your labelled car keys at Registration. CLOK strongly recommends that you carry a whistle whilst participating in this (and every) orienteering event. Dog walkers, horse riders and cyclists may be in the area. Please remember that competitors take part at their own risk. Orienteering is an adventure sport in wild terrain.
