A training camp is being organised for 2010 in Lagganlia and will be run by the Regional Squads, to provide a step-up for the young athletes from their normal squad training. This training camp is not part of the British Orienteering international development programme. There should be no conflict for young athletes with the international development programme as the vast majority accepted on the camp will be M/W 14 year 2.
In 2010 the camp will run from Saturday 31st July to Saturday 7th August.
Qualifications
Regional Associations are invited to nominate junior athletes with the following qualifications:
- The athlete should reach the age of 14 during 2010
- He/She must have attained at least Gold Standard in M/W14 age class at one of the National events or major races listed below. Evidence of the standard must be enclosed with the return form (dates of events with course, winners time and the nominated junior’s time). In the event of more M/W14s nominated than places available, a panel of 3 regional managers will allocate the places based on the Regional Manager's recommendations.
- Regions may nominate 15 year olds who did not attended the Lagganlia Camp as a 14 year old in 2009, if it is considered that the Lagganlia camp is appropriate, although it may not be possible to accommodate any of them as preference will be given to M/W14s meeting the qualification standard
- On tour athletes will be expected to participate in 2 training sessions per day.
