The 17th World University Championships starts today in Borlange, Sweden.This year there are a record 31 nations and 309 athletes. Great Britain has a very strong team with 6 men and 6 women.
The British Team have prepared well and are very famillar with the terrain having trained there earlier in the season.

Women: Anne Edwards (Oxford Uni), Jess Halliday (Edinburgh Uni), Rebecca Harding (Edinburgh Uni), Tess Hill (Harlequins OC), Hollie Orr (Edinburgh Uni).
Men: Oleg Chepelin (Interlopers OC), Scott Fraser (Interlopers OC), Graham Gristwood (Sheffield Hallam Uni), Alasdair McLeod (Edinburgh Uni), Doug Tullie (Edinburgh Uni).
Today is the Long distance race where the women will face 7.6 km of technical trackless forest and the men have 11.9 km.
