IOC supports World Orienteering Day

During the SportAccord conference in Bangkok, the IOC Head of Sports Partnerships Jenny Mann recognised World Orienteering Day as a "stand-out project" receiving IOC Development Support.

Jenny Nilsson, Project Manager for World Orienteering Day, International Orienteering Federation, said:

"This is great news and I am proud and grateful of the support from the International Olympic Committee and of the work that every one of you is doing!

World Orienteering Day 2018 is on the 23rd of May 2018, but you can register an event during the time period 23-29 of May.

Up to today, we have 545 World Orienteering Day events registered in 64 countries. What plan do you have to organise World Orienteering Day in your location, in your club or in your school? "

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is the supreme authority of the Olympic Movement.

Acting as a catalyst for collaboration between all parties of the Olympic family, from the National Olympic Committees (NOCs), the International Sports Federations (IFs), the athletes, the Organising Committees for the Olympic Games (OCOGs), to the TOP partners, broadcast partners and United Nations agencies, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) shepherds success through a wide range of programmes and projects. On this basis, it ensures the regular celebration of the Olympic Games, supports all affiliated member organisations of the Olympic Movement and strongly encourages, by appropriate means, the promotion of the Olympic values.
