“It’s about giving young people a voice, helping improve the sport for juniors, and having fun”, explains Anna Barber (Leicestershire Orienteering Club). “The Young People’s Board is a new British Orienteering initiative that brings together four of us as juniors into an informal group.”

"We will meet once a month online on Google Hangout, have a chat to catch-up on what we’ve been up to, and then discuss a project we’re working on”, says Dominic Dakin from South Yorkshire Orienteers. "I’ll decide which projects during the first couple of months.”

Sophie Jones (Happy Herts Orienteering Club) is excited to get involved. “It’s my first time to contribute to an orienteering-related project like this. The team met at the JK and seems very friendly. I can’t wait to get started!”

Joe Wright from Mar Orienteering Club says he would like to see more juniors at events. “Events at weekends can be great to meet friends, if you know who will be there. I’d like the Young People's Board to figure out how to make the sport more social and fun for everyone.”

“We want to give young people a voice in the future direction of orienteering”, says Phil Conway, British Orienteering Development Officer. “They have views, energy and new ideas that we can all learn from”.
