A Big Orienteering Thank You!

National Volunteer Week launches today (1 June 2018) and British Orienteering wishes to extend its gratitude to everyone involved in clubs and delivering events, across the country, who’s efforts every week ensure that the sport continues to be enjoyed by thousands of people.

Peter Hart Chief Executive, says: "Volunteers really are the lifeblood of our sport. We know that, every week, hundreds of people up and down the country are giving up their time in various different ways to help our sport thrive. They are the essence of our sport.

Many of us take them for granted, and if we take one thing from volunteer week remember to say a ‘thank you’ to the volunteer who made the event happen.”

Volunteering within Orienteering can be so diverse and there are many opportunities to get involved in a role to suit you.

Are you a very logical thinker with good organisation and planning skills?

How about supporting an event organiser or planner?

Or are you a welcoming people person? How about meeting and greeting orienteers at events and supporting those starting out for the first time?

Or are you someone with sound financial knowledge or administration skills? There could be a position on the committee for you!

Whatever your skill and whatever time you have available, there’s a role for you within the club. Simply contact anyone on your club committee and they’ll be able to discuss what opportunities there are for you.
