Charlie Somers-Cocks wins Gold in the Sprint and W55 World Masters Series

What a stark contrast yesterday with Wednesday's hilly Mass start yesterday for the Sprint event in a wooded Budapest park with very little climb but lots of fast and furious technical riding.

Quick decision making at under 3mins/km whilst glancing at the map was the order of the day with complex path networks at speed and quarry areas to catch out the unwary. Quick changes of direction and the excellent SI Air system meant a swift flow was essential for top speed.

Steven Hale, Sarah Bayliss and Killian Lomas just missed out on medals in 4th but Charlie Somers-Cocks came home in Gold after the previous day's silver, reversing yesterday's positions with Sweden's Monica Kolberg in W55. In this class Karena Hanley ran around with her bike, and a grade 5 collar bone fracture to complete her 7 races in the World Masters Series, gaining valuable points.

Hopes are high for the reigning M50 Champion Andy Conn in today's very hilly Long race.

With her Gold Charlie Somers-Cocks also won the W55 World Masters Series overall from Monica Kolberg of Sweden.

Congratulations Charlie!

Wishing all the GB team all the very best as they set to compete in today's Long race in Hungary.
