Congratulations on your selection to compete for GBR at the 2018 World Orienteering Championships.

Please tell us...

Who was the first person you told the news to about being selected for the World Orienteering Championships?
AMcL:  "My fiancé."

What made you choose orienteering over any of the other available sports?
AMcL:  "I enjoy the challenge and like the mental and physical mix."

Where is your favourite place to orienteer?
AMcL:  "Speyside in Scotland."

What is your favourite training session?
AMcL:  "I like orienteering relay simulation training where we are running with others and have pressure put on your orienteering and running. You also get instant feedback which is not always the case in training."

How are you preparing for the World Championships in August?
AMcL:  "I’m doing middle distance style orienteering training and some higher intensity running. I have also been doing a lot of heat training in Yorkshire to get used to the high temperatures in Latvia."

Who or what will be your biggest threat?
AMcL:  "Probably myself – doing something stupid like getting ill or injured beforehand."

Thank you. Congratulations again on being selected to compete in the World Orienteering Championships.

We wish you all the best with the rest of your preparation!
