Inspire others and volunteer

Have you been inspired by someone during your orienteering journey?
Could you be someone’s inspiration in the future?

It’s easier than you may think to get involved and did you know orienteering offers so many opportunities to volunteer across a diverse range of roles, so there is bound to be one to suit you. Likewise, you can even try something completely out of your comfort zone. The only requirements are, passion, willing to learn and the excitement to help others enjoy orienteering for the great sport it is.

Why do people get involved?

There are many different reasons people volunteer, could this be you?

  • You want to give something back to the club who’s supported you within the sport,

  • You have specific skills that will help the club grow, such as a marketing background or events organisational skills,

  • You want a new challenge with an opportunity to learn new skills,

  • You want the chance to meet new people,

  • You thrive on the buzz of an event day and seeing the enjoyment of others,

  • But probably the most important thing, you simply have a love of the orienteering.

What roles could I do?

Anything! It all depends on what you want to do and the time you have available. If you have got a bit of time on your hands then there are committee and events roles, but if you’re limited but still want to help, there’s always something on event day where you can make a valuable difference.

How do you get started?

Get in touch with anyone on your clubs committee or your next event organiser and they’ll be able to chat through how you can make a difference.
