Successful first year of webinars

Following its launch this year, British Orienteering’s webinar programme has excelled for its first year and is looking ahead to 2020 and how to go one better.

To date, 13 sessions have been delivered, with over 1700 views. This combines both lives views and those watching it back on YouTube and record. Covering sessions from club development, to planning, organising, coaching and juniors, there has been a real mix in content in order to provide a varied approach.

Leading the programme Peter Brooke added: “I’d firstly like to thank all the volunteers who presented throughout the year. The time they put in to provide insight and pass on their knowledge and experience can’t be underestimated. I’d also like to thank those who have taken the time to watch and engage with the sessions. The total number of views across all the webinars has surpassed our expectations and shows that there is a desire for this support going forward.”

“As a development team we’ve been really pleased to be able to deliver a programme which has helped to support existing volunteers within clubs but also provide a hub for new people to learn more in their own time. The feedback has been really positive and we hope we’ve been able to provide some inspiration for members to be able to develop their own knowledge whilst evolving their own clubs ideas.”

“All the sessions remain available to view on British Orienteering’s YouTube channel and I’d encourage anyone looking for tips and support in many areas of orienteering to take a look.”

As we look ahead to 2020, we’ll be delivering more live sessions tailored to your needs, we’d also like to incorporate more videos and interviews, so, if you have an idea you’d like to see or would be willing to take the helm and present please get in touch with Peter Brooke on pbrooke@britishorienteering.org.uk.

In 2020, sessions will vary in length between 20 and 45 minutes so all ideas and projects are welcome.
