Juniors across the world battle it out in a series of challenges

The Junior Weekend saw juniors from across the globe battle it out in a series of virtual challenges testing skills like routechoice, map memory and contour interpretation.

The puzzles used maps relevant to the next Junior World Orienteering Championships in Turkey. Plus new for this weekend was a race in Minecraft which was a popular edition to the stage lineup!

Congratulations to all the juniors who took part, especially the winners Joe Sunley (WCOC), Heather Wimberley (RACO), Rune De Clerq (TROL), Kirtsen Robertson (CLYDE), Robbie Lightfoot (SYO), Anna Todd (SYO), Hannah Hateley (DEE), Naomi Thornton (SYO) and Finlay McLuckie (MOR).

The Junior Weekend was Lockdown Orienteering's final virtual competition due to the resumption of real orienteering! However, it will not be disappearing completely! It will morph into 'Orienteering Unlocked' and provide virtual training programmes to help orienteers improve in real orienteering as well as organising virtual competitions in the Autumn and Winter 2020.

British Orienteering would like to take this opportunity on behalf of members to thank Organiser Chris Smithard (Forth Valley Orienteers) and the Lockdown Team for organising the wide range of challenges for all to enjoy and take part  over the last three months.  It has been great to see so many orienteers enjoying and taking part in the various challenges.  Congratulations to all the virtual orienteering winners.  Thank you all.
