Catching Features WOC2021: Hundreds of participants enjoyed the Middle, Long, Night and Sprint competitions in a virtual Czech terrain.

During February 2021, the 7th annual Catching Features World Orienteering Championships took place in a virtual Czech terrain. There were two training courses and seven competitions.

Catching Features“ is an orienteering computer game simulation played in a 3D environment.

There were officially 99 registered participants. 472 individual participants, from 48 countries, who did run at least one competition. Eight new maps for Catching Features. Four new individual World Champions and the French Team winning the Relay Event.

All Results and much more information can be found here.

The Relay Event was won by France and there was a live stream in cooperation with our British friends from "Orienteering Unlocked" (Chris Smithard, Katherine Bett, Craig Nolan). It can be re-watched either on twitch here or on YouTube here

Flavio Poltéra from the organising team, Catching Features WOC2021, commented:
"Overall we received a lot of positive feedback and we did see a lot of high-class performances.  That we could reach out to 48 countries did even surprise me and shows that there is currently interest in doing Orienteering.  Also, it was nice to see, that even the best players start to do silly mistakes when they feel watched during a live stream. As a bonus we could give some of the WOC2021 participants a possibility to train in Czech terrain."

"If you got interested in running around in virtual Czech Terrain, the maps which got used for this Catching Features WOC will soon be reuploaded with some competitions to the Catching Features Competition Server. You will need to buy the computer game 'Catching Features' to take part."
