British Orienteering 40th AGM – Key Outcomes and Voting

At the 40th AGM, the agenda was focused on administering the legal requirements of a Company although there were some other important decisions.

The members voted in a new President, Steve Cram. Many of you will know of him for either his running exploits in the 1980s or commentary at the large international athletics competitions across the World.

Steve was an orienteer as a teenager but had to focus on his running. We are certainly looking forward to working with him in the future in promoting the sport throughout the UK.

Club Accreditation

The membership supported the proposal to change the affiliation requirements of a club.

The requirements seek to ensure the protection of the sport, members money through good governance processes, whilst not creating a disproportionate administrative burden Strategic Plan with the key change being that every club has a designated Safeguarding Lead.

Directors

The members voted in Scott Collier and Andy Robinson for a further three years.
