Newcastle and Tyneside Orienteers enjoyed Local Event at Prudhoe

Report and Photo by Kim Sanderson (Newcastle and Tyneside Orienteers)

Newcastle and Tyneside Orienteers held their second post-lockdown event. It had already been postponed twice due to various coronavirus restrictions but was definitely worth the wait!

Although urban events are often held on Saturdays, the Planner had correctly identified that the town was much quieter on Sundays, and this extended to the free public car park where download and parking were located. This was especially welcome since coronavirus became an issue!

Indeed planning and controlling had their own challenges, as the Planner had relocated to Salisbury by the time the event could finally be held.

Entrants came from several neighbouring clubs as well as our own. Participants said they enjoyed the mixture of residential roads, park, and woodland, with a surprising number of hills for an urban area - not everyone enjoyed those!
