Update from the British Orienteering Championships 2021 Organising Team

Report by Mike Forrest (BOC Organiser and member of Bristol Orienteering Klub)

The British Individual Long Championships are on!
(subject to Covid restrictions at the time of the event of course).

There will be a Level B Middle race the following day instead of the usual British Champs Relays as the team felt this would be very hard to stage under any Covid restrictions. However they wanted to offer two days of orienteering for everyone to enjoy.

The team from Bristol Orienteering Klub (BOK) say that they are confident they can stage a memorable Covid safe event for competitors. They have been trying to organise the event in such a way as to minimise the risk of significant abortive costs in the event of forced cancellation and have the support of landowners in this matter.

Braunton Burrows is a very special place. Set just inland from Saunton Sands, there are spectacular views inland and out to sea. Much of the area is very runnable, yet incredibly complex. Braunton, Croyde, Barnstaple and Ilfracombe are nearby providing all levels of holiday accommodation and the sea in October remains warm – as long as you have or hire a wetsuit!

Entries will open on or just after the 1st August

More details will be made available at www.theboc.org.uk and entries will open on or just after the 1 August 2021.
