Orienteering, a mental and physical exercise that gets participants outside exploring and appreciating nature

British Orienteering is supporting the national #RediscoverSummer Campaign and this week's theme is 'Nature'.

Orienteering is a great way to explore woodlands, forests, open green spaces and appreciate nature. When you enter an unknown forest with a map, there’s always a possibility to find something new, for instance, good places to see different birds and butterflies.  On top of this, exercise and spending time in a woodland and forest environment have been scientifically proven to have positive health effects. In orienteering, these two are combined in a fun way.

Orienteering can be enjoyed locally or further afield, and is suitable for all ages and abilities.

A Permanent or Virtual (GPS) Orienteering Course is perfect for getting outdoors, getting exercise in the fresh air and enjoying nature with your family and friends.

There are over 500 Permanent and Virtual Orienteering Courses across the UK in stunning locations - forests, cities, parks, and woodlands. The best thing about Permanent and Virtual (GPS) Orienteering Courses is that you can enjoy them at a time and at a pace that suits you. You don’t have to be an orienteer, or a member of British Orienteering or even a member of any orienteering club to get involved and have fun orienteering this summer.

Check out the Go Orienteering website to find out everything you need to know to start your own orienteering outside adventure.
