#NewSeason: British Middle Distance Championships 2022

British Middle Distance Championships 2022
Sunday 6 March 2022
Rushmere Country Park, LU7 0EB

The British Middle Distance Championships are being hosted by East Anglia Orienteering Association and will be taking place on Sunday 6 March 2022.

Let hear from the Organisers of the British Middle Distance Championships 2022 on what competitors can expect from the Championships...

"The East Anglian Orienteering Association welcomes you to Greensand Country. Approximately 125 million years ago this area was in a tropical shallow sea! Sediments were deposited which eventually became compressed into the Greensand rocks which define the landscape we now see. Greensand is more resistant to erosion than the softer clays that surround it leaving a prominent ridge and giving us the undulating, diverse, and well-drained terrain to be enjoyed at this Middle Distance Championships.

Rushmere Country Park sits on the border of Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire and currently holds an International Green Flag award for the quality of parks and green spaces. Competitors can expect to be challenged right from the start with a mix of heathland, runnable woodland, and open parkland. This popular area has a well-maintained path network as well as some areas of intricate contour detail.

We are hoping for a great atmosphere in the event arena. Cheer on your friends and club mates as they run into the finish and enjoy catering, traders, and toilet facilities all located in the arena area."
