British Orienteering Annual Awards - Who are you going to nominate?

It is great to see that nominations for the British Orienteering 2021 Annual Awards are starting to come in.

Thank you to those who have already completed a nomination, shining a spotlight on some of the great work going on in our sport.

The online nomination form has made it easier than ever to complete - so why not nominate your active club, your fantastic coach, your dedicated volunteer, or your favourite map.

Each year British Orienteering presents a number of awards to recognise the incredible effort and impact delivered by clubs, coaches, mappers , and volunteers across orienteering.

Did you know there are two new awards this year? The Development and Innovation of the Year Award and the Continued Contribution to Orienteering Award.  You could be the person responsible for putting the first name on one of these inaugural awards!

Nominations for the awards below should be made by Sunday 6 March 2022.

Further Information, Guidance, and Nomination Forms can be found below for each category.

British Orienteering looks forward to receiving many more nominations over the next couple of weeks.

Mapping Awards

  • Traditionally, the three annual cartographic mapping awards, Chichester, Silva, and Walsh Trophies, would be awarded for maps first used in the previous year.  The Coronavirus epidemic has severely limited the number of events held in 2020 and 2021.  Consequently, the Map Advisory Group has agreed to invite nominations in 2022 for maps first used in the two years between 1 January 2020 and 31 December 2021.

  • The Bonington Trophy is for contributions to mapping which may have been made over an extended period of time.
