Anti-Doping Update

British Orienteering believes in clean sport and work in partnership with UK Anti Doping (UKAD), the World Anti Doping Agency (WADA) and our International Federation (IOF) to ensure the integrity of our sport is protected.

All athletes have the right to compete in sport knowing that they, and their competitors, are clean. We believe in clean sport and work in partnership with UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) and the International Orienteering Federation (IOF) to ensure that the integrity of our sport is protected.

The use of performance enhancing drugs other doping behaviour severely damages the legitimacy of sport undermines the integrity of clean athletes. All athletes have the right to compete in sport knowing that they, and their competitors are clean.

Each year, British Orienteering undertakes a variety of activities to ensure members and athletes are informed of the requirements.

British Orienteering is in the final stages of completing its framework submission which sets out how the sport will comply with the regulations.

British Orienteering wishes to keep all members informed of plans for 2022 and outlined here is an update on our progress.

  • The British Orienteering UKAD framework submission is due for completion by 1st April 2022.
  • A new anti-doping education strategy has been written and will be published and available to all members following final approval.
  • There will be a number of education modules available to access to support members and coaches.
  • Information has and will be disseminated via a number of channels depending on the level of the athlete. This will include, face to face training, webinars, emails and policy update and newsletters.
  • The anti-doping webpages on the British Orienteering website have been refreshed and will continue to have up to date resources available.
  • Anti-doping policy - updates have been made to the anti-doping policy for which all members are obliged to follow.
  • Anti-doping will be discussed at Board meetings.
  • British Orienteering will be promoting Clean Sport Week 2022
