New Adult O-Safe Policy announced

British Orienteering is pleased to announce a new O-Safe Adults at Risk Safeguarding Policy.

The new safeguarding policy replaces the previous O-Safe document with immediate effect and sits separate to the Child Safeguarding Policy announced last year. Both policies build on the positive changes being made within this area and by clubs across the country.

Safeguarding is a vital process, and the safety and wellbeing of children, young people and adults remains a high priority for British Orienteering. Together with clubs and coaches, we will continue to drive the importance of Safeguarding. In 2021 alone, over 200 coaches undertook a safeguarding course to reaffirm their commitment to ensure a safe sport for all.

British Orienteering would like to take this opportunity to thank law firm Bird & Bird, alongside the Case Management Group all for their hard work is assembling this policy.

The new Adults at Risk Safeguarding Policy can be found here.

Further guidance on Safeguarding, including access to the Child policy, supplementary guidance and additional resources can be found on the British Orienteering website under Safeguarding and Safety.

Should you have any questions or need any support, please contact British Orienteering’s Lead Safeguarding Officer, Peter Brooke on pbrooke@britishorienteering.org.uk
