Last week some of the Juniors headed out to Baia Mare, Romania to take part in the Electro Sistem Cup, in preparation for the Junior World Orienteering Championships which will be held in the area from 2–9 July.
Euan Tryner raced consistently across the three day period picking up 5th place in the Sprint and Middle and 4th place in the Long, which gave him an overall ranking of 4th across the three races. Charlie Rennie just missed out on a top 10 ranking.
In the Women’s race, Imogen Pieters and Laura Brown were inside the top 20 overall ranking.
This follows the start of the Senior International Competition season with World Cup Round 1 in Norway the previous week, which saw Megan Carter-Davies record two top 20 finishes.
The seniors will head to Switzerland at the end of May to compete in the World Orienteering Championship Selection Races, forming part of the Selection for the World Championships in Switzerland in July and World Cup Round 2 at the beginning of August.
The coming months will also be busy for the Junior Teams starting with European Youth Orienteering Championships in Bulgaria at the end of June, Junior World Orienteering Championships at the beginning of July and then Junior European Cup at the end of August.
All teams will be looking forward to competing in the newly sponsored Trimtex Kit.
