The CompassSport Cup Final took place last weekend and saw 1,000 orienteers battle the elements to compete in the complex sand dunes of South Gare. Summer can often be a relatively quiet time for clubs as many members travel out to international competitions such as the World Masters Orienteering Championships and other non-elite competitions. However, in between this, there have been some summer series events that have been designed to provide newcomers and experienced orienteers for the opportunity to enjoy orienteering through MapRuns and local club friendly-events. We reached out to some of the clubs to find out what they have been up to this season.

After the forest fun of the Idre World Cup and WOC 2025, athletes are now turning their attention to the sprint season, which kicks off with the European Orienteering Championships, in Belgium, selection races that are in Livingston on the 3rd of August followed by the World Games in China from the 8-11th August. The World Games also has a middle-distance forest race in its schedule.

The Yvette Baker Trophy and Shield are the premier Junior Inter-Club competitions for English and Welsh clubs, Scotland having its own competition, the Jamie Stevenson Trophy. There are two competitions held each year that take place at the same event, the Trophy for larger clubs, with teams of nine to count, and the Shield for smaller clubs, with teams of five to count. On Sunday 06 July the final of both competitions took place at Capite Wood in West Sussex.
