Campaign launch date: 30 March 2026
This campaign aims to attract new families, including parents, young children and teenagers, to try out orienteering for the first time.
Many families and young people remain unaware that orienteering courses are available in their local parks, green spaces and even urban surroundings! We want to emphasise that orienteering is not just a rural sport, and that all families need is a map, to dress for the great British weather...and they are good to get started!
Come and get involved in a sport that the whole family can enjoy together and where your little ones can make new friends, have fun in the fresh air and most importantly, burn off all that excess energy!
Nature's playground is mapped - now it's time for you to explore it!

Campaign launch date: 13 January 2026
The aim of this campaign is to inspire the target market groups listed below to get involved in orienteering in the wake of the Quid Games:
So if you are inspired by challenge and pace, or fuelled by the desire to go off-grid on your trails and unleash that unmatched energy – orienteering is for you!

Campaign launch date: 7 January 2025.
This campaign aims to draw broader awareness of the sport across our target demographic of 16–40-year-olds that may not have heard of orienteering before, and give a different perspective and perception of the sport to a wider audience.
There are plenty of ways you can help support the campaign as a member or as a club and association. Click the button below to learn more about how you can help us spread the word about orienteering through your marketing and communications channels.
We are also very keen to hear from members that have joined British Orienteering and/or their local club in the past 6 months. This is for an exciting new project that highlights orienteering from a newcomers perspective. If you would like to get involved or learn more, please email marketing@britishorienteering.org.uk.
Ongoing campaign (launched July 2021)
A common misconception of our sport is that you have to be a member to take part in events and activities. That is not the case!
Although we strongly encourage participants to connect with their local clubs, we have thousands of courses for people of all ages and abilities to explore via our sister site Go Orienteering. There you can access permanent orienteering courses as well as those available via your phone (known as virtual orienteering courses).
We have produced multiple assets to promote our permanent and virtual orienteering courses. Explore each of them via the button below and please share them with your networks.
Campaign launch date: January 2022–December 2024
British Orienteering undertook the Find Your Way Project funded by Sport England, with the project’s aims being to introduce Virtual Orienteering as an ‘On Demand’ activity for the young people and families in the most at need communities across England.
The project was a huge success with eighteen local clubs hosting numerous Find Your Way events across various regions in the UK.
