| Description: | This event forms part of our Saturday morning summer parkland sprint series, with three courses on offer - the main sprint course for experienced orienteers of all age (normally about 3km), plus Orange & Yellow standard courses of approx 2km & 1km for newcomers of all ages, including children and family groups. |

| Course description: | Course Information - Sprint: 2.8k, 19 controls (double-sided map) Orange: 1.6k, 15 controls Yellow: 1.1k, 15 controls. Map Details - 1:4,000 with 2.5m contours. Mapping to ISSprOM 2019-2 specification. Park remapped in November 2025 by Edward Lines. Updated with a few recent amendments. Terrain Description - Intricate and varied mix of ornamental gardens, open, rough open and copse.. Many small paths and some intricate contour detail. The area presents a significant navigational challenge for runners to stay in touch with the map at speed. There are water features in the area including a large lake and a marshy stream which are uncrossable and unsafe to enter. The Sprint course crosses a minor access road twice (controls 11-12 and 15-16). It’s not busy but drivers may be concentrating on parking and turning, not on orienteers!. Courses are planned not to cross the main car park area which should in any case be avoided. Facilities - Excellent new cafe, toilets, play park, picnic tables, ice creams. Assembly, start and download are adjacent to the café. |
