About the Group

Appointed to  support and advise suitable officials and advisers for Level A events; provision of guidance, support and good practice to these event officials; provision of training and development programmes to support event officials at all levels.


  • Chair, appointed by E&C Committee
  • 2 to 5 additional members to cover any gaps in the required skills and knowledge

The members of the Group are:

  • Vacancy – Regional Controller of Controllers or Event Coordinator or Technical Officer

Maintain current functions

  • Recruit and appoint Controllers for Level A events. IOF advisors for WRE
  • Offer advice and support to those managing the forthcoming BOF Controller’s listing. This is intended to help organisers identify event Controllers and Jury members for their events.
  • Manage annual Major Event Webinars with support from BOF staff. These are intended to share good practice and identify opportunities for further improvement for our major events. The sessions my provide helpful feedback for other Steering Groups e.g., Rules Group.
  • Compile and publish a Controller’s Newsletter to share information.
