British Orienteering is pleased to announce that Ed Nicholas will be taking on the new voluntary position of Senior Squad Manager for the performance programme.
The Senior Squad Managers role is to support the athletes named to the senior squad to prepare effectively for competitions, access appropriate training opportunities and identify support services that they may require. This will be achieved by coordinating inter-squad communication and assisting athletes in identifying and communicating with clubs and coaches willing to support them.
Ed said, “I am delighted to be appointed as the Senior Squad Manager. We have a dedicated and hard-working group of senior athletes who are committed to achieving excellence at World Championship level. The recent years have shown the ability that this group has and now it is the time to convert this into achieving at a world level. I am very much looking forward to supporting them reach the goals that they have. I am also looking forward to working with the many coaches; helpers and supporters who I know will be required to support the ambitions of the senior athletes“
Ed has worked on a voluntary basis as part of the programme for the last few years as a coach supporting Performance Coach Liz Campbell. Ed operates as a personal coach to some of the athletes in the Senior and Talent squads and has experience of working with teams at international competitions.
Craig Anthony said "I'm pleased to announce Ed Nicholas in the position of Senior Squad Manager. Ed has significant experience supporting the athletes in the last few years and has put forward a clear plan and design for how he will assist the squad in their preparations throughout the year."
