South Midlands Orienteering Club achieves Clubmark accreditation

We are delighted to announce that South Midlands Orienteering Club (SMOC) has achieved Clubmark accreditation.

SMOC is now nationally recognised as creating a safe, rewarding and fulfilling place for our participants. Clubmark is Sport England’s nationwide accreditation scheme which stands for high standards of welfare, equity, coaching and management in community sports clubs.

Congratulations to South Midlands Orienteering Club

Helen Nisbet, Chair of South Midlands Orienteering Club (SMOC), says:
"While we were already doing most of the actions needed for Clubmark accreditation already, it’s great for a small club like ours to get everything on a formal basis. As with the vast majority of orienteering, we couldn’t have achieved it without the help of our volunteers and committee members giving up their valuable time so a massive thank you to them."

Peter Hart Chief Executive, British Orienteering, says:
"SMOC have shown they are committed and dedicated to providing a safe, effective and fun environment for young people to learn and enjoy orienteering. This award is due recognition of the hard work their many volunteers do in order for this to happen.

We wish the club continued success in the future and hope that many more of our clubs follow in their footsteps and achieve Clubmark.”

South Midlands Orienteering Club was founded in 1986 and has over 100 members living mostly in the Milton Keynes, Bedford, Northampton, Luton area of the UK.  The Club is affiliated to British Orienteering and the East Anglian Orienteering Association.

Many congratulations!
