European Youth Orienteering Championships Debutant!

Jennie Taylor Communications Officer caught up with Megan Keith from Inverness Orienteering Club (INVOC) one of our junior athletes selected to compete at the European Youth Championships for the first time.

NAME:  Megan Keith

Age: 16
Club: Inverness Orienteering Club (INVOC)

 

When did you start orienteering? 
"I think I was 6 or 7 years old."

What do you enjoy about orienteering? 
"I like how there are both mental and physical challenges on a course and I enjoy the atmosphere at big events." 

Do you have a coach? 
"No"

Who was the first person you told when you were selected for European Youth
Orienteering Championships?
  "
My mum and dad, then I messaged my sister in South Africa!"


What kind of training have you been doing to prepare for it?
"I have been training in lots of layers of clothes as it’s probably going to be very hot in Bulgaria!"

What advice would you give to people wanting to get into the GB Team?
"You have to be able to commit to travelling to as many of the selection races as possible in order to get a good range of results."
