Peter Palmer – Junior Relays Weekend

A National event at Tankersley Wood, Sheffield.

Saturday 8 - Sunday 9 September 2018

Hosted by South Yorkshire Orienteers.

EXCITING ANNOUNCEMENT

New for 2018…!

The Day Break Relay – Only 4 legs, all in daylight. Teams of 4 to 6 M/W12-18s.

Jacky Dakin, Organiser of the 2018 Peter Palmer Junior Relay Weekend, says:

"SYO are really looking forward to welcoming junior teams from across the UK to the Peter Palmer Weekend on 8/9 September. This year there is also the opportunity for Saturday afternoon orienteering ahead of the Sunday morning relays.

The Peter Palmer competition is a firm favourite with M/W12 -M/W18 Juniors; a great social occasion, a mix of fun and challenge, with the early morning start and night–legs adding an extra dimension. Tankersley Wood – a deciduous woodland with challenging contours and bell pits, but also a good path network - will be a fantastic location for the relays. Live commentary and multiple spectator controls will make for a great event.

Our own club juniors have taken part in this competition for many years, and it's one of the highlights of the Orienteering Calendar. If you've been before, you'll know how much fun it is, and if you haven't previously entered, why not get together a team and give it a go this year?"

There are three Trophies to be presented at the Peter Palmer Junior Team Relay:

  • Peter Palmer Trophy - all team members from the same club.
  • Joan George Trophy - all team members from the same club, combined British Orienteering ages to total 90 or less.
  • Norwich Orienteering Club Anniversary Trophy - all team members either from the same ‘small club', or from two 'small clubs' forming a combined team.
