Orienteering – the Champion Sport for Families – by Moire O’Sullivan

Tollymore Orienteers – who are they?  Moire tells all in her fabulous blog post.  Check it out here.

[Also – she writes books – they are great – highly recommend!]

Along with her husband Pete and two young boys Aran & Cahal, Moire has become part of the very fabric of the hub.

Created just over a year ago by Active Clubs Coordinator Juls Hanvey, and Lead Coach Greg McCann, Tollymore Orienteers are a satellite hub of umbrella club Lagan Valley Orienteers.  They have rapidly earned a reputation as a friendly, fun environment for #havingadventures.

Most sessions take place in beautiful Tollymore Forest Park, with forays further afield too.  Hub members are of course welcome at all events right across NI and beyond.  Exciting developments this year come in the shape of four new Planners, trained by Philip Baxter (LVO).  Moire, Jon, Craig & Dave, along with Craig’s daughter Jasmine, have all planned sessions this summer.  The hub Summer Series Social at the end of July attracted 60 orienteers.  There was a real buzz about the place, and not just from the wasp's nest………….

Moire is also planning LVO’s Autumn Trophy event at Kilbroney Forest Park on Sunday 9th September.  Her courses are excellent, and if that wasn’t enough to tempt you, there is a wide range of cafes & bun shops just minutes from the finish line.  Full details are on the LVO website here
