The UK Orienteering League continues in Liverpool this weekend

UK Orienteering League continues in Liverpool this weekend

The weekend of competition begins on Saturday with race 21 of the UKOL series taking place at Formby, just up the coast from Liverpool. Formby is an area of wooded and grassed dunes, generally very runnable, but also with intricate contour detail. It’ll be a good test of careful navigation and running speed in the faster sections.

Then on Sunday race 22 in the UKOL series takes place at the University of Liverpool. The format is two short Sprint courses, with times being combined to determine the winners. The urban environment of the University Campus and Cathedral Precinct will provide very different challenges from Formby Dunes.

The Royal De Luxe Giants are returning to Liverpool for their third and final time for four days over the weekend of the event. Over 1 million people took to the streets of Liverpool during their last three-day visit in 2014 and similar numbers are expected this year. Follow this link to find out more about The Giants visit.

The UK Orienteering League then continues with the final weekend of racing in Southern England on 24th and 25th November. To find out more about UKOL visit the UKOL page. The number of races to count in the year has been reduced from 12 to 11, because of the cancellation of two races earlier in the season due to bad weather.
