British Schools Orienteering Championships 2018 - THE RESULTS !

2018 BRITISH SCHOOLS ORIENTEERING CHAMPIONSHIPS, Blackburn, Lancashire

Witton Country Park, Blackburn, Lancashire.

The 2018 British Schools Orienteering Championships were held on Sunday at Witton Country Park in Blackburn, Lancashire.

More than eighty schools travelled all the way to the north west of England to run orienteering races in the autumnal sunshine to battle it out to find the best Primary, Middle- Preparatory, Small Secondary and Large Secondary School Orienteering teams an individuals in Britain.

The younger children ran around the beautiful and fast-paced grounds of the country park, whilst the older ones ran courses that went up to forests on a steep hill with more complicated terrain and mountain bike tracks through it.

Nether Green Junior School beat twenty-two other schools to win the Primary School Race, followed by Hunters Bar Junior School in second position and Redmaids’ High Junior School in third place.

The winner of the four schools competing for the Middle-Preparatory race was St Andrew’s, Pangbourne, and the winner of the Small Secondary School race with twelve schools competing was Birkenhead School.

The biggest race was the forty-six schools competing to win the Large Secondary race which was won by Ulverston Victoria High School in first place, followed by Cockermouth School in second position and High Storrs in third position.

It was a big weekend for British Schools Orienteering – Saturday was the World Schools Selection race at Tockholes where the top M/W14 and M/W16’s competed for places to run in the World Schools Orienteering Championships which will be held in Estonia next year.
