Edinburgh Big Weekend 2019

Friday 25th to Sunday 27th January 2019

Edinburgh University Orienteering Club invites you to its annual festival of orienteering in the heart of Scotland’s capital.

The weekend includes a sprint race on Calton Hill on Friday evening (25 January), an urban race in the historic Dean Village on Saturday (26 January), a classic race on the picturesque Arthur’s Seat on Sunday (27 January), and of course the traditional ceilidh on Saturday night (26 January) to celebrate Burns Night.

Book via SiEntries online entry systems here.

All of the orienteering is organised by university students, and the event is known for combining high-quality orienteering with the beautiful scenery of the Edinburgh old town, with a healthy addition of craic thrown in for good measure.

It is the perfect opportunity to visit the many sights of Edinburgh while also getting high-quality racing. The event regularly attracts a strong foreign contingent, and the social aspect makes it ideal for other university orienteering clubs to integrate together.

While the quality of the orienteering is high, this event caters for all abilities, and as a University Club, beginners are more than encouraged to join in. Should you need any help selecting a course for your beginners, feel free to get in contact and our team will be happy to assist in the process.
