38th Annual General Meeting

To all of our members, we would like to take this opportunity to remind you of our 2019 Annual General Meeting which will take place on Friday 19th April 2019.

All members are welcome to attend. Please see the details below.

38TH ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

FRIDAY, 19TH APRIL 2019 AT 17:00

Notice is hereby given that the Annual General Meeting of the above-named company will be held at Aldershot Garrison Sports Centre, Rawlinson Road, Aldershot, Hampshire, GU11 2LQ on Friday, 19th April 2019 at 17:00. All members are welcome to attend.

The AGM is called for the transaction of the following business:

  • Apologies for absence
  • To approve the Minutes of the Annual General Meeting of 30th March 2018.
  • Chair’s Report
  • Treasurer’s Report
  • Chief Executive’s Report
  • Proposals
  • to appoint the Company's auditors
  • to decide the annual subscriptions and affiliation fees
  • to transact such other business as may be legitimately brought before it;
  • to appoint (as appropriate) the President, and Vice-President(s); and
  • to elect the Elected Directors in place of those retiring.
  • Any Other Business
  • Closing of AGM

Further details of the business of the AGM, including the Agenda, and Voting by Proxy form, will be posted on British Orienteering’s website on or before Monday, 25th March 2019.

 

The AGM will immediately be followed by British Orienteering Awards Ceremony where the following awards will be presented:

Volunteer Awards

· Club of the Year

· University Club of the Year

· Coach of the Year

· Young Volunteer of the Year

· Volunteer of the Year

  • SILVA Award a person or persons who have made a very significant contribution to orienteering over a period of years, with an emphasis on ‘field' activities rather than committee work.

Mapping Awards

  • Chichester Trophy - awarded for the best map produced by an amateur mapper.
  • SILVA Trophy - awarded for the best map produced by a Professional Mapper.
  • Walsh Trophy - awarded annually to the best urban or sprint map drawn to ISSOM specification.
  • Bonington Trophy - awarded annually for the 'best contribution to mapping' which can cover a whole range of activities related to mapping.

Directors

The following Directors will be standing down

  • Julie Webster
  • One vacancy due to the resignation of Bob Dredge on 1st January 2019 (Bob was appointed as Financial Director of the 2022 World Championships)

The Board will be seeking to replace the above two Elected Director vacancies at the AGM in 2019.

The roles are for full terms of three years. We welcome applications from any person who is eligible to undertake the role of a Company Director.

All applicants must be nominated by two British Orienteering members. For further information please contact the Chief Executive or Chair.

Nominations have to be submitted by 17:00 Wednesday, 27th February 2019

 

Voting - How do I vote?

There is a slight change in the process this year as members will be able to vote on proposals electronically if they should wish.

Members will receive an invitation to vote in advance of the British Orienteering AGM by email from Mi-Voice, an independent organisation, who are supporting British Orienteering with the process.

On/around 25th March 2019, you will receive your AGM email which will include the Agenda and Voting by Proxy process from the email address: elections@mi-voice.com with instructions on how to participate. This information will also be posted on the British Orienteering website. If the email does not arrive in your inbox please ensure that you check your junk folder.

AGM voting electronically will close at 17:00 Wednesday, 17th April 2019.
