Long Urban Race South England Orienteering League (SEOUL).

This will be the first ever time an orienteering race will be held in Thornbury Town Centre. Newly mapped by Mike Forrest (BOK), Thornbury is a fairly flat area to the north of Bristol consisting of an old market town core, modern housing estates interspersed with small parks, school grounds, and numerous connecting pathways, offering multiple routes choices. Starts are between 10.30hrs and 12.30hrs and entries are available online by age category until Sunday 9 June 2019.

For experienced orienteers, this race is part of the South England Orienteering League (SEOUL) and the second day of the BOK BLAST 2019 following the race at the University of the West of England on Saturday 15 June, so there will be lots of people running as fast as they can trying to win the best in their age category.

No experience is necessary – help available.

Amy Curtis, Bristol Orienteering Klub's Publicity Officer, says:  "Newcomers to orienteering are warmly welcomed and should enter on the day (EOD) as we have a dedicated course for you which will be about 3 kilometres long and there will be plenty of people around to help explain it to you and get you started. It doesn’t matter how fit you are as you can run, walk or jog – your navigation is as important as your speed. Come to the Turnberries Community Centre between 10:00 and 12:00 to register. It will cost £6 to enter and you will get a map which you can keep, hire a device that registers your time and when you finish, a printout of how long it has taken you to visit each control on the course and your ranking. All ages are welcome, but under 16’s must be accompanied by an adult."

Thornbury has a range of cafes and pubs so please support these. Toilets at available at the Event Centre. Ultrasport the specialist orienteering retailer will also be at this event.
