With an amazing World Cup Final Opening Ceremony held at Tingyin Lake Square having taken place, we look forward to the start of the first race in this fourth and final round of the 2019 Orienteering World Cup in Nanhai, China.
In the Opening Ceremony we saw spectacular performances, an impressive light show and speeches by IOF President Leho Haldna and the Mayor of Foshan City Zhu Wei.
Don't worry if you missed it. The Opening was broadcasted live and you can watch it here on orienteering.sport/live
The Opening Ceremony was really excellent display and has now kicked off the start of the World Cup Final. Tomorrow (Saturday 26 October) will see world-class orienteering elite athletes battling it out in the Middle distance race being held in Xiqiao Mountain.
The terrain is on a mountain plateau with generally moderate slopes. Mostly native forest, with some areas of villages and developed parklands. There is a wide variation in vegetation but most forest areas have fair to good runnability. There is a dense path network. Some of these paths have stone paving, which can be very slippery when wet.
The Start Lists have now been published.
Please note: Start times are in local China time, UTC + 8).
China's time zone is GMT+8. For the UK this makes for a 7-hour difference on Saturday, and an 8-hour difference, after the UK clocks change, for the Sunday and Tuesday racing.
