British Sprint Championships 2020 - entries are now open!

The British Sprint Championships Weekend is all set to take place on Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 June 2020 in Skelmersdale, Lancashire.  The weekend is a North West Orienteering Association event with Deeside Orienteering Club overseeing the Relay day.  All is set for two great days of Sprint Orienteering! 

The British Sprint Championships website is now live and entries are open via Fabian4.  Preliminary details and entry information is available here

Norman Hall, Co-ordinator for the British Sprint Champs Weekend in June 2020, says:
"This is the first full weekend of British Sprint Orienteering Championships and will see competitors navigating their way in what will be a technical urban housing estate of varying design, style and complexity, containing many cut-throughs, pedestrian bridges and underpasses."

The Event Arena for this year's British Sprint Relay Championships taking place on Saturday 2o June 2020 is based to the west of Skelmersdale centre. It consists of a grass oval amphitheatre giving good spectator views of the start and finish area.  The competition terrain is made up of complex housing with numerous cut-throughs and includes part of the Tawd Valley Park. The area was last used for the 2017 North West Individual Sprint Championships.

The British Individual Sprint Championships taking place on the following day (Sunday 21 June 2020).  The Event Arena will be situated to the north of the Concourse Shopping Centre, with the Assembly area adjacent to the Finish Arena. It is a sloping arena which will afford good spectator views of the finishing runners.  The competition terrain is made up of complex housing with numerous cut-throughs plus pedestrian bridges and underpasses and includes part of the Tawd Valley Park. The Prologue area was last used for the 2017 North West Individual Sprint Championships. A completely new area has been mapped for the Finals by Peel Land Surveys to ISSprOM 2019 Sprint specification and he has similarly updated the other areas, both at 1:4000 and 1:3000 scale.
