Jenny Nilsson, Project Manager - World Orienteering Day, IOF, said:
"I got the offer from Chris Smithard GB elite athlete and Lockdown Orienteering Coordinator that he could arrange the challenges/games. And due to the circumstances with the outbreak of the Corona virus (Covid-19) WOD thought it was a great idea. Together Lockdown Orienteering and World Orienteering Day and WOD partners has made it possible for people around the world to try orienteering online in different shapes!"

Peter Hart, Chief Executive Officer at British Orienteering Federation, says:
“British Orienteering has been fully supportive of the recent innovative Lockdown Orienteering challenges and games being coordinated by our very own GB elite athlete Chris Smithard. Lockdown Orienteering has provided a wide range of orienteering themed activities and challenges which can be done from the comfort of your sofa. British Orienteering is delighted that they have been well received by our Federation members as well as having received global interest from countries across the world. We wish Chris well and look forward to seeing people across the world joining in and enjoying online this year’s virtual Lockdown Orienteering World Orienteering Day.”
