London Orienteering Klub - 50th Anniversary event on Hampstead Heath

London Orienteering Klub (LOK) are all set to celebrate their 50th Anniversary at their event on Hampstead Health on Sunday 5 September 2021.

Entries are by pre- entry only via Fabian4 but you will have to act quickly as entries close this Sunday on 29 August 2021.

Julie Cleary, Member of London Orienteering Klub, says:  "LOK was founded in 1971. We have held regular training sessions on Hampstead Heath ever since, so it is appropriate to celebrate our 50th anniversary with an event here. All finishers will receive a memento commemorating our anniversary. It is also the 150th anniversary of the Heath, which was created by the Hampstead Heath Act in June 1871. This event is part of the Not-The-London City Race weekend along with South London Orienteers (SLOW) urban event in Ham on Saturday 4th September."

Julie continues: "We would be delighted to see all members including those who have "passed through" LOK on their way to new clubs to come and celebrate with us.  It is Hampstead Heath's 150th anniversary too."

Hampstead Heath is ancient hilly heathland to the north of London. The area is a mixture of woodlands and open areas with an extensive path network and provides a good orienteering challenge. It forms one of the highest points in London. The Kenwood Estate is a former stately home on the northern boundary that is open to the public. Map scale is 1:10,000 with a 5 metre contour interval. Pre-marked waterproof maps.

LOK would like to thank the City of London and English Heritage for permission to use the area.
