Southampton Orienteering Club hosted a Find Your Way Come and Try It Day

Southampton Orienteering Club (SOC) hosted a Find Your Way Come and Try It Day last weekend at the beautiful Lakeside Country Park at the weekend, continuing their great involvement with the Project.

The events are designed to help promote the Virtual Orienteering Courses SOC has around South Hampshire and offer further opportunities for those taking part to get into orienteering further. So far, the club has been involved with some great work such as local schools training and the Hampshire School Games Festival.

Many new Virtual Orienteering Courses have been created in the area recently thanks to the hard work of volunteers in the club, most especially Helen Wheelwright who is leading the Project for SOC. Excitingly next week sees the beginning of a Summer Holiday tie-in between the club and Eastleigh Borough Council’s ‘Park Sport ‘, which is a borough-wide incitive offering free sporting activities over the summer holidays. For this, two new Virtual Orienteering Courses have been created at Fleming Park and Pilands Wood, with ‘Come and Try It’ activities attached to both.

This is just the beginning of what’s to come in South Hampshire and we look forward to seeing what’s next!
