Parking information:The event will take place in the woods and on the moorland around Cod Beck Reservoir near Osmotherley, which is easily accessible from the A19. Parking will be along the Drovers' Road. After turning into the Drovers' Road at grid reference SE 447497 please continue along the road until you are met by a parking attendant who will direct you where to turn before parking. The event will be signed from the centre of Osmotherley at grid reference SE 473972. If coming into Osmotherley from the A19, turn right (south) at the T-junction in Osmotherley, then fork left, go down and then up a hill and turn left into the Drover's Road just before "Chequers" (postcode DL6 3QB). Assembly will be at grid reference SE 473983 on the North York Moors map OL 26.
Dog rules:Well behaved dogs are welcome in the Assembly Area, but are not allowed out on to the courses.

Details

Description:Facilities: Toilet in the Assembly Area. Please bring your own water for after your run. Hot drinks and mince pies will be available at download. Donations to NE Junior Squad funds will be gratefully received. Safety: You must carry a whistle while participating in this event. A comprehensive risk assessment will have been carried out by the Organiser, but please remember that competitors take part at their own risk. Orienteering is an adventure sport – your safety while orienteering is your own responsibility. If you have a relevant medical condition please complete form at Registration. Lone drivers: Please leave labelled car keys at registration. Please make sure that you download even if you do not complete your course. Insurance: Please note that if you have competed in three orienteering events registered with British Orienteering and you have not joined an orienteering club which is a member of British Orienteering then you are not covered by our public liability insurance.

Courses

Course description:Terrain: Mixed woodland around Cod Beck reservoir and open moorland with contour and rock features. The Yellow and Orange courses are mainly in the woodland. The other courses start and finish in the woodland but are mainly on moorland. IMPORTANT NOTE: Due to the time of year whistles will be compulsory at this event. Waterproof jackets may be made compulsory on the day depending on weather conditions. Look out for signs in the Assembly Area. Map: Scale 1:10,000 with 5m contours. A4 size Redrawn and updated for this event by Paul Taylor. The courses will be overprinted on the maps, which will be printed on waterproof paper. The Short Green and longer courses visit a detailed quarry area which will be printed at 1:5,000 scale as an inset on the event map.
