Details

Description:Covid-19: This event is being run in accordance with the British Orienteering guidance for resumption of orienteering in England. In order to participate in this event you must agree to comply with the Participant Code of Conduct. Key points in the Code of Conduct are:- You must not take part in any form of orienteering if you should be self-isolating under the current Government guidance; e.g. if you or any member of your household have had recent Covid-19 symptoms. Minimise contact with people from outside your household before, during and after your run. Practice social distancing at all times, including before and after your run as well as when you are out on your course. Take particular care to keep the required distance from other people in the vicinity of the Start, at download and when passing other competitors or members of the public on narrow paths, going through gates, etc. Do not congregate in groups at the event. Note: We realise that socialising is an important part of the orienteering experience, but please don't stay around in the car parking area after your run to eat your sandwiches and chat to other orienteers. If you do want to socialise, please go somewhere else ...... and please make sure that you comply with the current Government and Local Authority guidelines.******************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************* Terrain: Urban area with a variety of housing densities and types, interspersed with parkland and lakes. This results in varied urban areas – including areas with small alleyways and covered walkways – and fast grassland, allowing interesting courses to be planned with significant route choice. Map: 1:4,000 scale 2.5m contours A3 size. The maps will be printed on waterproof paper. This is a newly mapped area, mapped by Dennis Hooton. Control descriptions will be printed on the map and loose copies will be available separately. Please use the provided hand sanitiser before taking your control descriptions and map in order to avoid any risk of contaminating other people's control descriptions or maps. Punching system: SPORTident electronic punching will be used. The control boxes will be activated to enable SIAC cards to operate in touch-free mode ..... but please note that you will need to punch the old-fashioned way at the Start and Finish. As part of the arrangements to prevent the spread of coronavirus, SI-cards will not be available for hire on the day. CLOK members without their own SI-cards can arrange long-term hire of an SI-card until the end of 2020 for £5. If you wish to do this, please contact Marion Archer (marion.archer45@gmail.com) giving your name and how you would like to collect the card. Your hire card can be sent by post (supply your address) or you can arrange to pick it up at an event (indicate which event). The cost will be added to your account in the CLOK online entry system. Registration: Due to Covid-19 restrictions, there will be no Registration at the event. If you wish to participate in this event you must pre-enter via the CLOK online entry system. Safety: Please see the Covid-19 section at the top of this flyer. A comprehensive risk assessment will have been carried out by the Organiser, but please remember that competitors take part at their own risk. Orienteering is an adventure sport – your safety while orienteering is your own responsibility. Please make sure that you download even if you do not complete your course. CLOK recommends that you carry a whistle whilst participating in this (and every) orienteering event. If you have a relevant medical condition please inform the Organiser before the event.
