Description: | Terrain New area to orienteering. Views towards Robin Hoods Bay and Ravenscar. Open moorland with mixed runnability. Grass, bilberry and well managed patchy heather. Some nuisance bracken. Some marshes (largely avoided on courses). Archaeological features abound, including bronze age burial mounds, standing stones and hollow-ways. Course description: | Courses All courses are open but for RtC the following apply A Open Men 6.2km + 140m TD4/5 B Open Women, Veteran Men (40+) 5.0km + 110m TD 4/5 C Super Vet Men (55+), Veteran Women (40+) 4.2km + 110m TD4/5 D Ultra Veteran Men (65+), Super Veteran Women (55+), Junior Men (16-) 3.5km + 85m TD 4/5 E Hyper Veteran Men (75+), Ultra (65+)/Hyper Veteran Women (75+), Junior Women (16-) 1.9km + 55m TD4/5 G Young Junior Men (12-), Young Junior Women (12-) 1.7km + 40m TD2/3 Note. The few paths on the moor do not allow a possible TD1 course. Details subject to final controlling. We are hoping for winning times of 35 mins. |
