This event is being run in accordance with the British Orienteering guidance for resumption of orienteering in England. In order to participate in this event you must agree to comply with the Participant Code of Conduct.
Key points in the Code of Conduct are:-
You must not take part in any form of orienteering if you should be self-isolating under the current Government guidance; e.g. if you or any member of your household have had recent Covid-19 symptoms.
Minimise contact with people from outside your household before, during and after your run. Practice social distancing at all times, including before and after your run as well as when you are out on your course. Take particular care to keep the required distance from other people in the vicinity of the Start, at download and when passing other competitors or members of the public on narrow paths, going through gates, etc.
Do not congregate in groups at the event.
Note: We realise that socialising is an important part of the orienteering experience, but please don't stay around in the car parking area after your run to eat your sandwiches and chat to other orienteers. If you do want to socialise, please go somewhere else ...... and please make sure that you comply with the current Government and Local Authority guidelines..................................Terrain:
The area has two distinct parts, separated by a quiet road. Low Moor is a sloping area of heather moorland with patches of gorse and a pocket of old quarry workings. Skelton Warren is mixed woodland with scattered rock features on the steeper slopes to the north of the moor. The whole area has a good path network.
Please note that full leg cover is required for this event.
Please remember to check yourself for ticks after the event, as they can carry Lyme Disease.
In the event of bad weather, cagoules may be made compulsory. Please come prepared.
Map:
1:7,500 scale 5m contours A4 size. The maps will be printed on waterproof paper.
Note: Major tracks have been updated, but there are many off-road and mountain bike tracks that are not shown on the map.
Control descriptions will be printed on the map and loose copies will be available separately.
Please use the provided hand sanitiser before taking your map in order to avoid any risk of contaminating other people's maps.
