Parking information: | TBC - Finding sufficient parking for Orienteering events on Ashdown Forest is often problematical and this event is no different. It is anticipated there will be two parking areas close to the event centre (Ashdown Forest Centre) - one in the SE corner of Broadstone Warren and one on Ashdown Forest, but in order for these car parks to have enough capacity EVERY car would have to arrive with 3 competitors - almost double the normal occupancy rate! It is anticipated that the Broadstone Warren car park (just west of the event centre) will be solely for officials and cars with 3+ persons, with the "Broadstone" car park (east of the Ashdown Forest centre) for those cars with at least 2 persons. In addition, we are planning on using a third car park close to Wych Cross traffic lights (for ALL single occupancy vehicles and any other vehicles with 2+ persons which have arrived after the first two car parks have become full). There will be a minibus shuttle (approx 1.2km each way) from the Wych Cross car park. These arrangements are subject to confirmation - please check the SO website nearer the time. Please note also that from late November 2022 car parking charges will apply at all Ashdown Forest car parks - once confirmed we will aim to publish details on the SO website. |
Dog rules: | No dogs on the courses due to Scout Association rules. However, they are permitted within Ashdown Forest - so please use a Forest car park and NOT the Scout car park if you wish to bring your dog along (without taking onto the course). |

Course description: | A mixture of mainly runnable woodland and heathland, boggy in places. Much of the area is on a north facing slope and climb is inevitable. However, the courses have been planned appropriately for the age groups they attract. The map for the longer courses is likely to be A3 and printed professionally, with the shorter courses having an A4 version printed by SO. As such, we will be unable to alter the print run for the longer courses at the 11th hour, so please be sure to enter in good time. The longest course (Brown) is likely to be around 9km with 30-40m climb per km. |
