Caddihoe Chase 2016

Wessex and Wimborne Orienteering Clubs hosted this prestigious two day event of orienteering this weekend.

Wessex took on the Organising and Planning of Day One based at Knoll Beach Car Park with views of the Isle of Wight. Wimborne took on the Sunday based at Burnbake campsite which allowed people to camp overnight and provided an ideal venue for the assembly and prize giving arena.

The area of Agglestone Heath is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful areas in the south of England and we were lucky enough to see it in all it's glory. Saturday was generally fine with only occasional sharp showers and the Sunday was blue skies all day.

With nearly 500 competitors on the first day with nearly 400 returning for the chasing start the next day this was (the highest number for several years at a Caddihoe Chase. Whilst several comments were received about the toughness of the terrain most seemed to have enjoyed their courses.

The weekend was rounded off by a very timely prize-giving which included presenting all the younger competitors who had completed both days with a Certificate of Achievement.

The full set of results from the weekend can be found here.

British Orienteering would like to take this opportunity to thank the volunteers from both Wessex and Wimborne Orienteering Clubs for hosting this event and providing an enjoyable two days of orienteering.
