EGM 2017 Booklet

The Extraordinary General Meeting of British Orienteering Federation Limited will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday 14th October 2017, venue;         The Studio, Riverside West, Whitehall Road, Leeds, LS1 4AW

There are three proposals;

  • To include the Isle of Man in the territory over which British Orienteering governs the sport of orienteering.

  • To clarify the situation regarding Directors who have served their maximum term in office. Currently, the situation is unclear and we would like to follow the good practice identified in the new governance code by making it a minimum period of 4-years during which a director cannot stand again. This is in line with good practice and a change required by Government.

  • To clarify the membership of the Appointments Panel that is used to make nominations to the Board regarding independent directors. This is also in line with the new Governance Code of Practice and required by Government.

The EGM Booklet, containing details of the EGM, the proposals, supporting statements and the proxy voting form is available here.

If you are not attending the EGM but would like to cast a vote, please complete the proxy voting form attached in the EGM Booklet following the instructions included.

The Association and Club Conference will follow the EGM after a short break.

The theme of the conference will be to consider our competitions and local events and the part they play in delivering our Strategic Plan. This is a theme that should interest everyone as it looks at the heart of the sport from local events through to major events.

All members are invited to attend and we would encourage as many of you as possible to come along and have your say! If you are interested, please fill in the registration form provided and return by email to info@britishorienteering.org.uk or by post to; British Orienteering, Scholes Mill, Old Coach Road, Tansley, DE4 5FY no later than Friday 6th October 2017.

As in previous years, we also encourage Associations and Clubs to nominate two chosen representatives to represent their views. Association and Club Chairs or Secretaries will need to confirm the names of delegates attending on behalf of their Association or Club. This will register their attendance and these delegates will be eligible to have a contribution to their expenses paid by British Orienteering (details in ‘expenses details’ document). Association and Club Chairs or Secretaries should also nominate their delegates by Friday 6th October 2017 by emailing the registration form to info@britishorienteering.org.uk

We would love and encourage other members that are interested to attend, however, any expenses will need to be covered by the individual, club or association depending on individual arrangements.

Nearer to the conference date we will provide an agenda, this will be circulated and then published on the website here.

Please Note: attendance at the EGM is not confirmation of attendance at the Association and Club conference. Confirmation of attendance is needed for the conference to enable accurate catering requirements.
